Canada
It's hard
to miss the giant metal goose standing next
to the Trans-Canada
highway in Wawa, Ont.
At 8.5
metres tall, the roadside attraction north of Sault Ste. Marie
has been
greeting passersby since 1963 —
and is one of the most photographed
landmarks in North America.
But, in
the last few years, the Wawa goose has fallen into a state of disrepair.
The town
has hatched a plan to replace the goose with a brand new model.
The hope
is to unveil the new goose for Canada's 150th anniversary in July of next
year.
Wawa, a town with a
population of 3,000 people,
means "Wild Goose" or "Land of
the Big Goose" in Ojibway.

Cattle Auction FAIL
All auctions are fast passed to keep the momentum going.
But
cattle auctions are especially quick
. It almost appears to be in another
language.
Bert Kreischer and his friends went to a cattle auction
and for fun
he decided to make a bid.
The only problem was that no one else bid afterwards.
His
friend couldn’t stop laughing
after Bert realized he just dropped $1,400 on a
cow

Odds and Ends
Weekend at Hillary's
This morning I was sitting on a park
bench next to a homeless man.
I started a conversation by asking him how
he ended up this way.
He said, “Up until last week, I
still had it all.
I had plenty to eat, my clothes were
washed and pressed, I
had a roof over my head,
I had TV and Internet, and I went to the gym, the pool,
and the library. I was working on my MBA on-line.
I had no bills
and no debt.
I even had full medical coverage.”
I felt sorry for him, so I asked,
“What
happened? Drugs? Alcohol? Divorce?”
“Oh no, nothing like that,” he said.
“No, no.
I got out of prison.”
Uh Oh!!
Noel Cervantes Macias noticed 89-year-old Fidencio Sanchez
as he was pushing his popsicle cart in the Little Village area of Chicago.
He
and his wife have recently lost their only daughter
and they’d been selling
popsicles to pay the bills.
Then This Fidencio’s wife fell ill and couldn’t
help him with the cart anymore,
so he was struggling to push it alone.
Joel
said, “It broke my heart seeing this man that should be
enjoying retirement
still working at this age.”
He wanted to help the old man and bought 20
popsicles for $50
. But then Joel together with his friend Joe Loera
started a
campaign at GoFundMe.
They wanted to raise $3,000 but got a lot more than they
expected.
People from all over the world donated $250,000 in just five days!
That’s simply amazing.
