After a downhill biking accident, Johanna Nordblad 

thought she might lose her leg.

 Doctors had to leave the fracture open for 10 days to avoid necrosis.

 In a last ditch effort, to save the limb,

 they tried a painful cold water treatment.

 That experience, eventually, led her to develop a passion 

for swimming under frozen lakes, just holding her breath

. Today, she holds the world-record for free diving 

50-meters under ice wearing only a wet suit.
