Lake Hillier
Lake Hillier is a pink-coloured lake on Middle Island,
the
largest of the islands that make up the Recherche Archipelago
off the coast of
Esperance.
From above the lake appears a solid bubble gum pink.
The lake is
about 600 meters long,
and is surrounded by a rim of sand and dense woodland
of
paperbark and eucalyptus trees.
A narrow strip of sand dunes covered by
vegetation
separates it from the blue Southern Ocean.
No-one fully knows
why the lake is pink
. Scientists speculate that the colour comes from a dye
created by bacteria that lives in the salt crusts.

102 y/o Dancer Sees Herself on Film for the First
Time
A 102 years old dancer sees herself on film for the first
time.
Alice Barker was a chorus line dancer
during the Harlem Renaissance of
the 1930s and 40s.
She danced at clubs such as The Apollo, Cotton Club, and
Zanzibar Club,
with legends including Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, and Bill
‘Bojangles’ Robinson.
Although she danced in numerous movies, commercials and
TV shows,
she had never seen any of them,
and all of her photographs and
memorabilia
have been lost over the years.
