Seamus shook his head and asked,

"Do what?" asked Mick.

 Day after day, week after week. 

No matter if it's oicy, rainin, snowin’, hailin?

 Why would they torture themselves like that?" 

"Tis all for the prestige and the money," replied Mick. 

"You know the winner gets about a half a million Euros? 

"Yeah, I understand that," said Seamus,

 "but why do all the others do it?"

Once there was a baseball umpire 

who rose through the ranks

 and became quite famous for his fair umpiring. 

He became so well known

 and liked that he was invited to call games 

in both leagues and the minors,

 including the World Series each year.

 And so he traveled from place to place

 and delighted crowds of fans with his unbiased calls.

 But alas, his eyesight began to fail after several years

 and he was unable to continue umpiring.

 He still liked to go to the games,

 though he was unable to see very well. 

One day at a large stadium, he took a wrong turn

 and was killed in a fall from an upper level.

 The first biography to appear was titled …
