Xmas Edition
A specimen of the fascinating moodjar,
or Western Australian native Christmas trees (Nuytsia floribunda).
They are considered
sacred to the local Noongar people.
Did you know that the moodjar is believed to be the
largest member of the mistletoe family?
They attach themselves to the roots of other trees
and vegetation around it to ‘feed’ from.
These trees bloom in spectacular fashion,
with masses of brilliant orange/yellow flowers giving the canopy
a fiery blanket of colour around the festive season
and are at their best now!
