Burt Reynolds was offered the opportunity to play James Bond,

 but he turned down.

 And now with the advancement of computer technology and film,

. Reynold’s reason for turning the role down; 

“I thought no American could possibly play James Bond,” he said.

 Instead of playing James Bond,

 Burt Reynolds went on to race around in multiple 

“Smokey and the Bandit” movies in the 1970s.
